Volunteering

The Parenting NI helpline is operated by trained Helpline Volunteers.

Every autumn/spring we recruit for our accredited preparation course which prepares new Helpline Volunteers to provide support and guidance to helpline clients. The Helpline Volunteers who successfully complete this course join Parenting NI's helpline in Belfast city centre.

Helpline Volunteers give a high level of commitment to the organisation. This involves one morning, afternoon or evening per week on rota, attending supervision sessions and Skills Development Workshops.

Parenting NI highly values the contribution of these volunteers and encourages suggestions from them as to how their role could be better supported and recognised.

Helpline Volunteers also have opportunities to input into the development plans of Parenting NI and to attend events on behalf of the organisation.

When Helpline Volunteers leave they often bring their experience to similar fields of work.

Please use the links on the left of this page to find out more about what a Parenting NI Helpline Volunteer does, how they are trained, what is expected of them, and how to apply to become a Helpline Volunteer.
