Kick Start
Is your organisation interested in developing work with fathers?
Do you ask yourself questions such as:
Where do we start?
What is possible?
Who can help us?
What has been tried in other places?
Kick Start is an innovative programme which is funded by the Family Policy Unit (within DHSSPS) and coordinated by the Parenting Forum within Parenting NI. Since 2005, it has offered a seven month package of training, support, mentoring, reflection and practical action to organisations that are trying to, or wishing to engage with fathers in Northern Ireland. The aim of the programme is to increase both the quantity and quality of dedicated work with fathers, and to build a robust infrastructure in this area by providing a cooperative and supportive environment for: self-reflection; sharing experience; new theoretical learning; skills development; creative practical action; recording of effective practice. This is open to both male and female workers. We will be holding two Kick Start seminars during 2012. Remember to keep checking this page - we will update it as soon as we have further details.
